Melrose Arts Festival Drew Crowds Last Weekend
By Ellen Putnam
Last Saturday and Sunday, the Melrose Arts Festival returned to Memorial Hall this weekend for its 18th consecutive year.
Over 40 artists had their work on display, and visitors enjoyed four different local bands, food trucks, caricatures, face painting, and a raffle. Follow Your Art Community Studios led a community art project on the stage, and this was the first year that Follow Your Art's Junior Artisan Fair was held on the lower level of Memorial Hall.
The Melrose Arts Festival provided artists from Melrose, surrounding towns, and as far as Maine and Rhode Island with the opportunity to reach out directly to audiences. For visitors, the festival offered the chance to look at high-quality local art, speak directly to artists about their craft, purchase pieces for their home or for gifts, and just enjoy the fun atmosphere.
