Melrose Post Office Closed for Repairs
By Ellen Putnam

Residents looking to mail a package or check their post office box will need to travel to a neighboring community for the time being, because the Melrose Post Office has closed for repairs as of last Saturday.
A representative for the U.S. Postal Service stated that there is no timetable for the repairs as of now, but they are expected to take days, not months.
In the interim, postal customers can visit a post office in Stoneham, Wakefield, or Malden for retail transactions. Customers who have a post office box in Melrose can check their mail daily at the Malden Post Office without needing to change their address. Carrier delivery service to residents and businesses in the area is unaffected by this change.
Mail delivery to residents and businesses will be unaffected. Collection will continue from all mailboxes in town, including the ones that are right outside the post office.
"I realize with change there is always concern," said Melrose Post Office Manager Robert Finnigan in the letter announcing the closure, "but we are confident that we will continue to provide Melrose customers with effective and efficient services during these necessary building repairs."
