Mix two great friends with artistic energy and what do you get???
Lorrie DiCesare and Ellen Rolli Studios!
Lorrie and Ellen have been friends for more than a quarter of a century and joined creative forces by sharing a bright and cheery space to hone their crafts and display their works of art.
They are both long-time Melrose residents and proud to be part of the art community.
Ellen Rolli, a painter, realized her dream of opening an art studio 13 years ago in the South End of Boston. She relocated her studio to Melrose 6 years ago and last year Lorrie joined the space to work and showcase her jewelry and paintings.
The friends inspire, encourage, and support each other.

Ellen’s art happens intuitively and is based in nature, abstracts, and items that surround us with beautiful colors, shapes, and textures. She paints on paper and canvases. Her paintings invoke a sense of calm and are thought-provoking.
I love that her easel, apron, and pants are covered in a palette of paint – they are works of art themselves.
While I was in the studio – a woman dropped by to purchase a Rollie original for her home in Maine.
Lorrie DiCesare has been crafting jewelry for over 30 years. She started in silver then added enameling.
I watched her create a beautiful pendant that she applied ground glass to and was going to fire in her kiln.
Her earrings and necklaces are full of color and whimsy. She also paints and block prints beautiful greeting cards.
Their studio is filled with art books, one is titled “Creativity Rules the World” - I just love that and I will say that Creativity Rules the DiCesare/Rolli Studio.
The studio is open when you see the sign and paint brush hanging, the paint brush was inspired when on a windy day the sign was blowing and Ellen needed something to hold it down – necessity is the mother of invention!
Just in time for Valentine/Galantine Day, the studio will be having a pop up this Saturday, Feb 11 - “Love All Year Round” - the studio will be open from 10 am – 4 pm – this is a wonderful opportunity to meet two amazing women artist, do some shopping and be inspired.
Update: Lorrie DiCesare now sells her art out of Paper and Clay, and Ellen Rolli works with Annie Damphousse of Housse Studios.
