Her passion for authentic Greek, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern cuisine shines through in every bite. From the flaky layers of her Spanakopita and Tiropites to her creamy Hummus and irresistible Greek cookies, Despina’s Dishes are a celebration of flavor, tradition, and love.
A retired instructor from the Culinary Arts Institute in Everett, Despina continues to share her gifts with the community. She volunteers her time for the Melrose Food Drive and prepares her dishes using mostly organic ingredients and 100% olive oil — a reflection of her deep respect for quality and healthful cooking.
Despina’s love for food began as a young girl, cooking beside her beloved mother, who passed away earlier this year. It’s from those moments in the family kitchen that her lifelong culinary journey began — one filled with care, creativity, and connection.
Encouraged by Robin at Buckalew’s General Store, Despina launched Despina’s Dishes, now proudly available in the freezer section at Buckalew’s.
She’ll also be sharing her talents at the upcoming Harvest Fundraiser for the Melrose Food Drive, offering her heavenly apple strudel made with apples from her own garden — a true labor of love.
Every dish Despina creates is crafted with heart and presented beautifully — a reminder that food, when made with passion, nourishes far more than the body.
