Public Art on Pleasant Street and Washington Street
Written and Photographed by Nancy Clover
Another unexpected piece of public art is tucked away on a small traffic island at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Washington Street, near the Malden line.
While little is known about its history, the side is signed "Painted by Melrose High Students," hinting at a student-created project that has quietly brightened this corner of the city.
It’s discoveries like this that make walking through Melrose such a joy. You never know when you’ll stumble upon a splash of creativity hiding in plain sight.
Keep your eyes open — you might be surprised by what you find!
