Sound healing at Energy Center Alignment

This Sunday, January 11th, all are invited to attend a free Holistic Health and Wellness Expo from 12pm to 4pm at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School cafeteria. The event will feature a number of vendors, many from Melrose and others from surrounding towns, who focus on all aspects of health and wellness.

The event is organized by Lorie Callahan, who offers sound healing at Energy Center Alignment behind Main Street. The event was inspired by the Healthy Melrose event, which went on hiatus a few years ago. It is also sponsored by the Melrose Chamber of Commerce.

Callahan emphasized that she herself is not opposed to traditional medicine, but believes that Eastern medicine is used most effectively in conjunction with Western. She described her own discovery of holistic medicine: chronic pain that did not respond to conventional medicine was eased by combination of chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, and other holistic approaches.

“Holistic medicine gave me my life back,” she said.

“A lot of people are doing holistic things and don’t even realize it,” she went on, noting that this weekend’s expo will include everything from sound healing to nutritionists to yoga to martial arts to chiropractors to dance studios.

“Growing up, no one told me what holistic healing is,” Callahan added, “and this is a good opportunity to come and learn about different options that are out there. Different things can make different people feel better: everybody is different, and every body is different.”

Sunday’s event will feature a free raffle with a variety of prizes (attendees do not need to be present at the drawing to win), and will help introduce attendees to local businesses they might not know about.

“Everyone is big on supporting local businesses,” Callahan said, “and this event is keyed to telling people: here are small, local business options.”

The Melrose businesses that will be featured at the Holistic Health and Wellness Expo include Health and Human Services of the City of Melrose; the Melrose Family YMCA; Fit Life Studios; Fitness Together; Green Street Natural Foods; Melrose Family Chiropractic; Karate Pro Dojo; Energy Center Alignment (sound healing); Bodyography Wellness (massage and acupuncture); Cairos Strategies (midlife coaching); Bahia Miller (mental health coach); BZ Consulting (cognomovement); Live Well Collaborative (holistic lifestyle medicine); and StarLeaf Wellness (biomagnet therapy).

All are invited to stop by the expo on Sunday to learn about different options for healthy living and support local businesses. Maybe you’ll even be inspired to set some new resolutions!
